Summary of the Book

Maurice Frydman, a disciple of Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj translated the original Marathi work by the author in 1973. The book has 101 sections, presenting conversations on particular concepts. They are compiled in a question-and-answer format, and deal with mostly spiritual quests. Most of Nisargadatta’s teachings are based on the Advaita Vedanta, and on his own experiences. The main themes of the book are: Identification with the Body, Meditation on the “I Am” Feeling, Surrender to the Truth, Conceptual Knowledge and Effort/Earnestness.

About Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj

Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj was an Indian spiritual guru and Advaita philosopher. Born into a poor Hindu family as Maruti Shivrampant Kambli, he was inducted into the Inchegiri branch of the Navnath Sampradaya by his guru Siddharameshwar Maharaj. In two and a half years of association, Maruti realized his true self and awoke to the cause, renaming himself Nisargadatta. He was installed as the head of the Inchegiri doctrine after his guru's passing.
