Prior to a catastrophic battle which would end his entire family, the Pandava prince Arjuna turned to his charioteer, the reincarnation of Vishnu, Krishna, to guide him in his moments of despair. What Krishna said to him became a vital part of Veda Vyasa's Mahabharata, and a pillar of Hindu philosophy for all time. God Talks With Arjuna: The Bhagavad Gita is the translation of the Song Divine by Paramahansa Yogananda, and an analysis of the messages within.

Summary of the Book

Beginning with the visions bestowed on Sanjaya to describe the battlefield to King Dhritarashtra, the Bhagavad Gita speaks through Krishna, Vishnu's form on the world. Seeing Arjuna fraught with doubt and fear, Krishna tells him that fulfilment of Dharma is the principal reason for birth, without which one cannot escape the cycle of birth and death. He explains that mankind's repeated failure to uphold the tenets of Dharma is why he manifests himself again and again, to set right the wrongs and to show them the way. In his interpretation, Paramahansa Yogananda explores the psychological, spiritual and metaphysical aspects of the work, explaining the secrets within. The Bhagavad Gita is one of the greatest works of Sanskrit literature ever written and is considered the single greatest example of Hindu philosophy. This edition comes in two volumes, with 20 original color paintings, a genealogy chart which explains the Kuru and the Panu families and comes with a detailed index for finding the right verse in this massive work. Also, the edition comes with Lahiri Mahasaya's diagram of the chakras.
